Crystec to attend Malvern Panalytical’s 4th Annual Pharma Conference

Malvern Panalytical’s 4th Annual Pharma Conference will take place on 3 June at the Edgbaston Conference Centre in Birmingham, bringing together industry and academic experts focused on small molecule drug development.

Representing Crystec at the event will be Kate Bristow and Dr Steven Nicholson, who will present a poster entitled “Overcoming Food Effect of Rivaroxaban through Enhanced Dissolution”. The poster explores formulation strategies designed to improve dissolution performance and reduce food-effect variability in rivaroxaban delivery.

Dr Nicholson commented: “We are pleased to present our poster at Malvern Panalytical’s 4th Annual Conference showing our study on enhancing the dissolution rate of Rivaroxaban to overcome its bioavailability variability linked to food effects. Our modified supercritical antisolvent (mSAS®) technology generated composite particles of Rivaroxaban containing a wetting agent and a more readily dissolving solid-state form. These particles had a faster and more complete dissolution compared to micronised material, displaying the strength of mSAS® in enhancing dissolution rates of poorly soluble drugs.”
